Beyond The Page

A new weekly creative storytelling group for women who have been in prison.

An experienced comic book illustrator & graphic novelist will help you create and tell stories in new ways through writing, drawing, collage, and more!

No experience required! The sessions will include materials and refreshments.

When: Wednesdays 11am - 1pm

Where: The Devon & Exeter Institution

Spaces are limited, so if you are interested - or know someone who would be - here’s how to get involved. 

We can also accept referrals from mental health services, GP surgeries, charities, or any related service or agency.

About The Facilitator

Wallis Eates is a comic art practitioner based in Devon. Since 2014 she has worked with community groups to share stories in a visual form, including prisoners, adults with dementia, amateur boxers for social change, and survivors of brain injury.

She is also on the Board of Directors for the all-women lead graphic novel forum, LDComics CIC through which she launched 'Safe Space for Hard Stories' - an online group for comics-makers.

Wallis graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2001 and is currently studying for her PhD at Kingston University.
